SCAPLENS COMMUNITY PLAYERS is a local, historical theatre group that focuses on storytelling, drama and music.
In May 2026 Scaplens Community Players are staging their new play 'SHADOWS OVER WHITECHAPEL' (Inspector Abberline and the Jack the Ripper case.) at Bournemouth Little Theatre.

The play has been written by Katy Nutt in collaboration with the Scaplen's team.
You might wonder what link that might have to our local area, well two local people were involved.
Montague John Druitt was a local man, born in Wimborne and educated locally. He was one of the chief suspects in the case, even his own family thought he was guilty.
Frederick George Abberline, Chief Inspector of Scotland Yard at the time of the murders was born in Blandford Forum, lived in Bournemouth and is buried in Wimborne.
This locally written play tells the fascinating story and challenges the legends surrounding the Ripper, and the women whose identities were defined by their tragic deaths. Our production includes historic content, the enduring mystery and the personal involvement in one of the most famous, unsolved cases.
