Written by Henrik Ibsen

Directed by Brian Woolton

11 - 16 April 2016 at 7.45pm

"I'm not frightened of God, only the ghosts in my life". Helene Alving is keeping a terrible secret from the world, a secret that could destroy her family and her position in society. Only by telling the truth can she escape the ghosts of her past.

When it was first written, Ibsen's Ghosts was highly controversial. Dealing with issues of infidelity and illegitimacy, it was famously described as "a dirty deed done in public". To a modern audience these things are less shocking, and we can now see Ibsen's play as a cry for help from women left powerless by social convention - a cry for help that is still relevant today.

Ibsen's darkly tragic drama comes brilliantly to life in a modern adaptation by acclaimed writer and director Richard Eyre.
